Lyprinol is the name given to the New Zealand Green Lipped Mussel which has been marketed as an extremely potent anti-inflammatory agent. The green lipped mussel is found at the northern tip of New Zealand’s south island. A region called Marlborough Sounds nourishing pacific currents create an ideal environment for growing mussel in uncontaminated waters. The mussel has a rare combination of lipid groups and omega 3, unique to its species and not found in any other oil. It’s like fish oil, but better. Lyprinol has been shown to control and reduce damage caused by excess inflammatory responses and provides natural pain relief for a range of inflammatory disorders. In order for the mussel to provide the best anti inflammatory response, the product must be fresh and raw.

In the 1970′s, a major research project designed to discover cures for various diseases, included shellfish from around the world, including the New Zealand Green Lipped Mussel. It was following this that research began in order to verify that the mussel has anti-inflammatory properties. Unfortunately, early results were erratic and not consistent, allowing skeptics to jump right in. Soon it became clear that the Coastal Maoris ate the mussel fresh and therefore concluding that the mussel must be fresh and raw to be effective. Processing procedures like extreme heat, freeze drying and refrigeration without a stabilization or anti-oxygenation process would promote oxidation of active components, therefore dramatically lessening the mussel’s potency.

As time progressed a patented process was developed to stabilize mussel meat. Harvesting must be closely coordinated with the processing plant as the procedure relies heavily on the freshness of the meat. The mussel is mainly formed commercially for International Food Markets but the amount formed for therapeutic/nutraceuticals continues to grow.

The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University in Australia has finished 15 years of research into active lipids within the mussel. Studies show using Lyprinol have shown positive results in relieving arthritic conditions and even asthma, by modulation of the principle human inflammatory pathway known as the lipoxygenase pathway. The lipoxygenase pathway is a series of biochemical reactions in which arachidonic acid, a component of membrane phospholipids, is transformed into pro-inflammatory mediators called leukotrienes. Leukotrienes possess diverse biological actions and are increasingly implicated in a variety of disease states. Lyprinol manages levels of leukotrienes which is very helpful to the human body. The lipoxygenase pathway has been recognized as a major pathway of operation and therefore scientists have been searching for the past 20 years for a lipoxygenase pathway inhibitor. Several synthetic inhibitors have been developed but they all have a harmful of side effects to humans. Lyprinol is derived from a food source and is the first effective naturally occurring lipoxygenase pathway modulator, safe for humans.

Featured Benefits of Lyprinol include:

symptomatic relief from osteoarthritis

decrease airway inflammation, as in asthma

may provide relief from inflammatory bowel disease

Several lines of evidence support the role of leukotrienes in the pathogenesis of asthma, and agents with the capacity to inhibit the synthesis or action of leukotrienes are used in the treatment of asthma. Such agents represent the first new class of asthma medications to be introduced since inhaled glucocorticoids, and the first to target a specific type of mediator.

Contradictions and Cautions for Lyprinol:

derived from shellfish so be cautious if you have a shellfish allergy even though the chance of it happening is low

may rarely cause mild diarrhea, nausea or flatulence and if persistent see healthcare provider

always read label and use only as directed

not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding

may increase risk of bleeding with warfarin so consult healthcare provider before starting so monitoring can begin

Overall: The New Zealand Green Lipped Mussel has been shown through many studies to help with various conditions that deal with inflammation. This includes diseases such as arthritis, asthma and inflammatory diseases of the bowel. Lyprinol has been shown to be safe in humans. Always follow directions on the bottle and if you switch between brands confirm the dose. The New Zealand Green Lipped Mussel shows great potential and is definitely worth the try.

One of the main areas of focus of Plexus Worldwide is weight loss. Following are the basics on just what glucose does when it reaches the blood stream and how it affects us. Our body requires a base amount of glucose in order to function. Our liver, kidneys and heart all require glucose to do their job. This is why doing any type of diet that tells you to eat no carbs can be dangerous. When we consume food, our body breaks it down and absorbs nutrients that our body requires. Included in this is glucose. Here is where things get a bit more complicated. Although glucose is needed, we consume way more then our body requires. This is where we run into problem with obesity, diabetes and other health concerns related to too much glucose.

Our sugar levels are based on what we eat. Some foods release glucose very quickly while others do it very slowly. When glucose hits the blood stream our pancreas begins releasing insulin, a hormone that helps the body manage glucose. Insulin is responsible for getting nutrients to various cells where it is needed. As insulin delivers the glucose to the different cells in causes a decrease in blood sugar since it is no longer in the blood. The more sugar you eat, the harder the pancreas has to pump out insulin to get it back under control. Without insulin, glucose would not get used appropriately to keep the body functioning.

Have you ever felt fine, or even a bit hyper, and then all of a sudden you crash? You have no energy, feel dizzy, and sometimes even hungry. This is the work of insulin. Sometimes insulin works a bit too well.

Since I feel the discussions of the two different types of diabetes is very important, I will begin working on my next few posts.

Plexus Slim, commonly known as the pink drink, was initially developed as a product to help Type 2 Diabetics regulate their blood sugars. It was soon determined that Plexus Slim had an interesting side effect: weight loss. Everyone that was using the product to help regulate their blood sugars also found that they lost weight, without changing their eating and exercising habits. Some only lost a few pounds while others lost quite a few. Shortly after this, Plexus Slim was also marketed for its weight loss properties. Also important to mention is that those initially taking it for the blood sugar regulating properties did notice a difference in their blood sugar.

Excess weight is a major contributor to many diseases. For example, heart disease and diabetes can often be improved with weight loss. In some cases weight loss allows people to go off certain medications.

The ingredients found in Plexus Slim are all natural and are known for altering how glucose is absorbed after a meal, for being an appetite suppressant, as well as for being an antioxidant. Plexus Slim does not contain any stimulants.
